My Umbrella

a boat, a muddy puddle

a float, on a stagnant pool

a float, on a sluggish river

side lined

sitting in the debris

over whelmed

over crowded

sinking

stinking

wasting

in a daze

baling out

pushing out

hauling to the bank

hauling to the path

upside downing my fragile boat.

Flotsam and jetsam

exhaustion and hurt

putrid water

fall around me

over all and all around me…

Handle gently taken from me gently

Flotsam, jetsam, tired old habits,

Pain not mine and cares and worries

Tipped into the flowing river

Towel proffered

Broom used

Soft rain shower

Umbrella shelter

Shielded forward

Looking forward

Moving forward

Back in hand

Walk together

Underneath

Giving shelter

Umbrella

His umbrella.
