A Cornflake

A Cornflake

Floating in a bowl of milk
What are you?

Froth on the cappuccino
The zing and zest in lemon drizzle
Or just the drizzle

Are you grated
Or pounded?

Are you a crumb
To one side
The left behind crust
Tough tooth breaker
Or a granary seed
That escaped

Will the broom
Or damp cloth
Remove all trace?

I expect so.

But doesn’t mean you can’t live
