Last Friday Night – or In Praise of the Taxi man

Last Friday Night – (Or in Praise of the Taxi man)
(Having not been out for ages, I was at a colleague’s 50th birthday, my daughter was at a work’s do and my husband was supposed to be enjoying first evening home of half term school break)
So the starter motor
Stopped
The shower
Flooded
The mobile phone
Landed –
In a taxi cab
Somewhere
Out there
We spent quality time
In a cold dark car park
Waiting for the
AA rescue man
To confirm at midnight that
The car would not start and left it there
For morning rescue
Shower turning nightmare
Wet rot dry rot
No longer solid
As houses
Uprooted
Upheaval
Planks and pipes
And saws and drills
But kindly man
The taxi man
Recharged the phone
And made return
To most relieved
And grateful one
